One great aspect of the Chevy Silverado 1500 is its versatility. It is available in a wide variety of cab and bed sizes and numerous trim levels, making it easy to find the right Silverado for you at your local car dealer. For those who desire superior off-road capability and more features than the Custom Trail Boss has to offer but who don’t want to spring for the top-of-the-line ZR2 off-road trim, the LT Trail Boss sits right in the middle of the lineup, combining all the extra features the Silverado LT with the same off-road capabilities as the lower-spec Custom Trail Boss. Let’s take a closer look at the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss to see what makes this the perfect package for many drivers’ needs.

Standard Specs

Perhaps the best way to get to know the LT Trail Boss is to meet it in its standard configuration. Of course, since this is a Chevy truck, drivers have seemingly infinite ways in which they can customize their trucks. As a result, the LT Trail Boss models you encounter on the dealer’s lot or anywhere else in the wild may be significantly different. However, each LT Trail Boss starts out with a decidedly hearty array of standard offerings.

Under the hood is a standard 2.7L TurboMax engine that produces 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, resulting in a smooth, responsive, and responsible ride.

All LT Trail Boss models include four-wheel drive. Inside the standard crew cab, you’ll find comfortable seating for up to six passengers with front and rear bench seats. The front bench seat offers a 40/20/40 split fold with under-seat storage that increases cargo potential. While these particular aspects of the truck’s configuration are fixed, you’ll still have the choice of a short or standard bed to meet your overall cargo demands.

What Makes This LT a Trail Boss

As the name implies, the 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss is equally comfortable on and off the pavement. Chevy has provided this truck with the goods to handle plenty of difficult terrain, starting with a Z71 suspension with a factory lift that increases ground clearance from just over 8 inches to 11.1 inches. The underbody is protected with skid plates, and red recovery hooks are on board to help pull you out of tight places. Performance-oriented features, such as Rancho monotube shocks, a two-speed Autotrac transfer case, and an automatic locking rear differential, give the Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss a distinct advantage over other trucks in muddy and gritty conditions. Heated exterior mirrors and cargo bed LED lighting give the LT Trail Boss a distinct advantage in cold, wet, and dark conditions, too.

The LT Trail Boss excels in other important truck duties, as well. With the ability to tow up to 9,500 lbs with the standard 2.7L TurboMax engine, the Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss includes an array of standard trailering and towing equipment. The standard Trailering Package includes a hitch, hitch platform, and a two-inch receiver hitch with four-pin and seven-pin connectors for connecting your trailer’s lights and brakes.

The LT Trail Boss model also includes some upscale towing technology. A standard Tow/Haul driving mode adjusts shifting points to provide optimum gear changes for towing, while grade braking technology helps keep speed and braking under control when heading downhill. Hitch Guidance technology is also on board, displaying a live image of your hitch area on the infotainment screen. If getting hooked up and on the road quickly when driving solo is in your job description, the LT Trail Boss is a ready and willing assistant.

More Fun Features

The biggest difference between the 2025 LT Trail Boss and the Custom Trail Boss model is the number of fun features. While the Custom Trail Boss comes well-equipped, the LT Trail Boss model combines the features of the popular LT trim with the capability associated with the Trail Boss name.

That means modern creature comforts like the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system with Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, and Wi-Fi hotspot, all operated via a large 13.4-inch touchscreen. Images from the HD Rear Vision Camera are displayed here as well. Other important information is displayed directly in front of the driver on a 12.3-inch Driver Information Center.

In addition to exterior heated mirrors, the 2025 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss includes a heated steering wheel, driver, and front outboard passenger seats. The dual-zone automatic climate control system allows the driver and front passenger to select preferred temperatures up to 30 degrees in difference, making the cabin a comfy place for everyone.

Optional Extras

For many Chevy Silverado drivers, it’s not just about the truck itself, but its potential. Like every other trim in the Silverado 1500 lineup, the LT Trail Boss model is eligible for plenty of optional packages.

In fact, the 2025 LT Trail Boss trim can be outfitted with any of the 2025 Silverado 1500 engine options. This includes the 355-hp 5.3L EcoTec V8 or the blazing-fast 6.2L EcoTec V8 and its 420 hp. It also includes an increasingly rare option in the segment, a 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel engine option. With 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque, this engine can handle brutal terrain and hard work without complaint. Each of these engine options also increases the towing capacity, up to 13,300 lbs when equipped with the Duramax diesel.

Power isn’t the only thing that’s customizable in the LT Trail Boss. An optional 60/40 folding rear seat offers storage in the left and right seat backs as well as full-length under-seat storage. Those looking for advanced driver assistance technology beyond the standard Chevy Safety Assist suite may consider the Safety Package, which comes with HD Surround Vision, Front and Rear Park Assist, and additional cameras to help keep an eye on the trailer when towing.

The Convenience Package II transforms the LT Trail Boss truck from well-outfitted to exceptionally well-outfitted. It upgrades the standard six-speaker audio system into a Bose Premium Sound System and adds a Universal Home Remote. Naturally, these are just a few options and opportunities offered on 2025 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss models, making it easy to find a version that meets your needs.
